State Patrol releases identity of man killed in hit-and-run Saturday

The Washington State Patrol has released the identity of the Olympia man who was killed in a collision on Saturday south of Tumwater.

The man has been identifed as Dale B. Drewry, 54, of Olympia. Drewry was riding in the passenger seat of a vehicle being driven by his wife, when they were struck from behind and run off the road, according to a release by the State Patrol.

Drewry’s wife was transported to St. Peter’s Hospital to be treated for her injuries.

A 37 year old Olympia man was booked into jail Saturday on charges of Vehicular Homicide, Vehicular Assault, and Felony Hit and Run as a result of the collision. He took off running from the scene of the accident, according to scanner traffic. Thurston County deputies apprehended him a short time later.

The exact cause of the accident is still under investigation, but drugs and/or alcohol were involved, according to the State Patrol’s release.
