Department of Corrections searching for inmate who escaped Cedar Creek

Garrett S. Young escaped the Cedar Creek Corrections Center early Saturday, November 13.

Officials with the Washington State Department of Corrections are searching for a 32-year-old inmate who escaped the Cedar Creek Corrections Center in southwest Thurston County early Saturday morning.

Garrett Young, 32, was found to be missing during routine checks at 2:00 am Saturday, according to a news release from DOC. It appears he escaped by digging under a fence.

Units with Department of Corrections, Washington State Patrol, and the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office are assisting with the search. Young was last seen wearing tan khaki pants, a red sweatshirt, and a tan jacket. He is 6’3″ tall, 200 pounds with blonde hair and blue eyes.

Young was incarcerated at Cedar Creek following convictions in Skagit County of possession of a stolen vehicle and eluding a police vehicle.

Anyone who sees him should call 911 immediately and not approach him.
