Man arrested in connection with Target bomb threat

The Target Store on Harrison Ave NW was evacuated Wednesday morning after 911 dispatchers received a call alleging that there was three bombs in or around the building, according to scanner traffic.

The Washington State Patrol Bomb Squad responded, which included bomb-sniffing K9s. The bomb squad was able to clear the building by around 2:00 pm.

In the meantime, all employees and customers were evacuated from the building.

While this was going on, Olympia Police were busy arresting the man responsible. It is unclear how officers tracked him down, but scanner traffic and arrest records show that the 27-year-old was arrested at or near his residence, within an apartment complex on Fern St SW, this afternoon.

He has been booked into the Thurston County Jail on the felony charge of “Threats to Bomb or Injure Property”. It is unclear what led him to make the bomb threat.
