
The man killed in an early-morning collision caused by a wrong-way DUI driver in Olympia on Friday has been identified by the Washington State Patrol.
He is identified as Gregg M. Hicks, 47, of Shelton. Authorities with the Mason County Coroner’s Office notified Hicks’ next of kin, according to the State Patrol.
Hicks was driving his 1999 Saturn SL2 southbound on US-101 near Shaker Church Rd at 5:09 am Monday, when he was hit head-on by a 2008 Nissan Frontier, being driven northbound in the southbound lanes. He died at the scene.
The driver of the Nissan Frontier, James R. Blair, 53, of Gig Harbor, was arrested for Vehicular Homicide and booked into the Thurston County Jail. Drugs and/or alcohol are believed to be a factor in the crash, according to the State Patrol.
