Nisqually Police apprehended a suspect on Tuesday who fled the scene of an accident, led officers on a high speed chase, and rolled his car over on SR 510 near Yelm.

Officers originally responded to the Nisqually Market Shell (also known as the Rez Mart) for a report of a collision in the drive thru. The calling party stated his vehicle was struck by a silver Toyota Corolla that had taken off on SR 510 towards Yelm. The victim was able to provide officers with a license plate.
Officers spotted the vehicle when it passed another vehicle in a no-passing zone on SR 510. When they attempted to pull it over near Southworth Elementary, the vehicle continued to accelerate, and speeds reached 90 mph. Officers confirmed the plate matched with that provided by the hit-and-run vicitm.
Yelm Police deployed stop sticks (spike strips) and there was a good spike on the driver side tires. The vehicle began swerving back and forth in both lanes, and the driver lost control. The vehicle left the road and hit a cement wall, bounced off the wall and flipped, and came to rest against a tree.
The male driver shattered the passenger side window and exited the vehicle, and refused commands to get on the ground. He was tased by multiple officers and taken to the ground.
The male suspect was transported to Capital Medical Center to be evaluated before being booked into the Thurston County Jail on charges of Eluding a Police Vehicle and Hit and Run Attended.
