The National Weather Service says that another “vigorous frontal system” will push through our area on Friday, dumping plenty of rain and possibly causing more wind damage than the storm we had on Wednesday.
Meteorologists wrote in this morning’s forecast discussion that they expected tomorrow’s storm to be “at least as windy as the system yesterday and maybe a notch higher”. Early fall storms tend to be particularly impactful because leaves are still on trees, making trees more susceptible to damage.
Nevertheless, expect rain and wind tomorrow, and be prepared for the possibility of localized power outages caused by tree damage and blown transformers. Check your storm drains and make sure they are clear of leaves to prevent urban flooding.
And please, drive carefully, especially on I-5 where the water pools up near the interchange. We had multiple accidents in that area yesterday, including a rollover.
