
A collision yesterday evening in southeast Olympia resulted in one driver being transported to the hospital with serious injuries, and the other driver being arrested for vehicular assault, narcotics possession, and DUI.
Olympia Police and Fire crews were dispatched to the reported collision around 6:30 pm in the 1300 block of North St SE, near Olympia High School. First arriving crews reported that the road was fully blocked and one patient was trapped inside of a vehicle, according to scanner traffic.
Crews with Olympia Fire, assisted by Tumwater’s Medic 5 paramedics, extricated the patient from the vehicle, and they were transported to an area hospital with “serious, but non-life threatening” injuries, Olympia Police said Monday.
The other driver, a 26-year-old male, was arrested by Olympia Police officers on suspicion of felony Vehicular Assault, Possession of Controlled Substance Synthetic, and Driving under the Influence, arrest records show.
North St SE was fully closed for over 4 hours following the accident, as collision investigators were called to the scene, according to scanner traffic.
